Under the terms of the agreement GMN the worldwide membership association for marketing and business professionals, will give NBCC member companies and their marketing management access to leading edge global professional training and development programmes in Nigeria and the UK.

According to NBCC President Akinola Akintunde This relationship with GMN will enable the Chamber to offer our members a global standard of professional development programmes for their marketing management. Importantly it will give us the opportunity to assist UK companies coming to Nigeria to equip their local marketing management to meet the needs for success in the this market. I will also enable Nigerian enterprises to market their services and products successfully in the UK and the rest of the world.

Established in 2005, Global Marketing Network is committed to raising standards in marketing practice to help businesses achieve greater profitability and return on investment through a relentless focus on what actually matters to people in business in the 21st century. A key part of its agenda is its Putting Marketers back in the Boardroom initiative. A structured continuing professional development programme is at the heart of the initiative. It enables employers to give their professional marketers and operational managers the opportunity to enter an academically validated, practical personal and professional development programme and to access the best international professional trainers and programmes.

This agreement with NBCC in Lagos and London completes the first stage of a journey that started when GMN held a Global Marketing Strategy Symposium in Lagos in October 2008 in association with leading marketing publication M2 under the Chairmanship of Chief Akin Odunsi of Rosabel Leo Burnett.

Darrell Kofkin chief Executive of GMN said working with NBCC will give us the opportunity to open the eyes of the world to the quality and strength of marketing management in Nigeria and give Nigerias marketing professional a greater insight into global marketing needs as Nigerian business continues to push into global markets.

Chairman of the NBCC UK Network, Peter Walker, initiated the negotiations for the long term alliance that will see GMN become NBCCs the global membership association for the marketing professionals in its member organisations. As one of the UKs leading communication professionals with strong links with Nigeria developed over many years, he is delighted at the opportunity the agreement gives the UK Network of the Chamber to showcase Nigeria and Nigerian business to UK business and business managers.

This year we are celebrating 50 years of Nigerias independence from the UK. We want to mark it by demonstrating to UK business and investors the strengths and quality there is in Nigerias business and commercial sector. It is the key to developing Nigerian business in a global market and giving the that the un market the understanding it needs of Africas largest consumer and industrial market.

On 21 May 2010 in London GMN and NBCC-UK will combine resources for INSIGHT Nigeria Marketing for Africas largest market an intensive one day seminar that will look at the best in marketing for the Nigerian and UK markets. Details of the programme will be available from NBCC in Lagos and the UK Network in London.

This news comes just two weeks before the launch of GMN Ghana taking place in Accra 17 and 18 February 2010 and further demonstrates GMN`s committment to raising standards in African marketing practice.
